Military Missions Support

The STAN Solutions team, in coordination with the California-based company Inter-4, is responsible for developing and setting up a robust wireless mesh network (Tacti-Net) with related equipment and training in Iraq. When the project first began, in 2002, STAN Solutions developed the architecture for the “self forming, self healing” network. STAN Solutions’ primary objective was to establish a vigorous air ground link to provide voice, video and data in the field.

The STAN Solutions team, in coordination with the California-based company, Inter-4, is responsible for developing and setting up a robust wireless mesh network (TACTI-NET) with related equipment and training in Iraq. When the project first began, in 2002, STAN Solutions developed the architecture for the “self forming, self healing” network. STAN Solutions primary objective was establishing a vigorous air ground link to provide voice, video and data in the field. In 2005, a greater need was presented in Iraq and the team quickly answered the call. STAN Solutions adapted mesh network technology to a Tethered Air Ship PTDS Balloon that sent information to mounted and dismounted troops on the ground, ships, other aircraft, vehicles and platforms

Today, the STAN Solutions team has successfully installed equipment on over 400 HMMWV (Humvee) vehicles and over 300 Stryker vehicles. In addition, experienced STAN Solutions Field Service Engineers (FSRs) have produced the technical documents and conducted the Tacticomp training in the field for more than 1,000 soldiers. STAN Solutions designed and implemented the network-monitoring protocol that is currently utilized in Iraq. The team works vigorously to troubleshoot problems before they surface and resolve them as they appear (i.e., battery power back-ups for electric devices, and design/production of mounting hardware solutions).

STAN Solutions was tasked by the Army Space Program Office (ASPO) to complete the design, build, and manufacture the TACTI-NET mobile equipment, to be installed in the Stryker armored vehicle. STAN Solutions team led the way for the 1st successful integration of KU Satcom and mesh network for the Stryker.  The team also completed the redesign of Stryker installation architecture for TACTI-NET devices to pass the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG is the Army's Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence [C4I] Developmental Tester) located in Fort Huachuca. In addition, the network coverage was expanded by STAN Solutions RF Engineers and is continuously evolving to cover new tactical areas as the military pushes into new unoccupied territories.
Homeland Security Initiatives
Not only has STAN Solutions repeatedly proven their capacity to serve in a war zone, the company has also been given the opportunity to engage in crisis prevention here at home. In an effort to tighten Homeland Security, STAN Solutions was awarded a contract to provide network security during Super Bowl 2007, mirroring the technology and aggressive network set-up used in Baghdad.

Wireless Network Design & Engineering

STAN Solutions’ dynamic team of highly-skilled, cross-trained, vigilant engineers and technicians allow coupled with our extensive experience allow us to offer a fully comprehensive scope of services related to Wireless Network Design and Engineering.

Our Wireless Design and Engineering capabilities are outlined below:
Network Communication Design and Engineering
  • IP network infrastructure design and prototyping, installation, integration and testing.
  • Assessment viability of publicly available wireless network using analysis tools.
  • Implementation of wired and wireless communication for both fixed and mobile units.
  • Ability to clearly understand the operational imperatives and requirements of the end-user and rapidly translate them into material solutions that meet the mission needs.
  • Architects of the existing Network Monitoring System presently in operation in Iraq.
  • Ability to integrate Tactical Handheld Digital Device (THDD) solutions with other Army Battle Command System and tactical communications systems.
  • Capabilities to integrate with live sensors and distribute data using the THDD system.
  • Capability to communicate and network voice and data to units and soldiers over a widely dispersed area using THDD and organic range extension or Beyond-Line-Of-Sight communications.
Capability to install, train and maintain the THDD system in vehicles and Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs) for units and individual soldiers.
Radio Frequency Design and Engineering
  • Infrastructure and terrain site survey.
  • Preliminary research of all frequency emitted from surrounding units, for example: buildings and vehicles.
  • RF modeling and propagation resolution.
  • Interference and harmonic issue resolution.
  • Design filtration and alternative methods of signal quality.
  • Antenna propagation and RF coverage studies.
  • Data production for RF coverage analysis.
Soldier Trainings

STAN Solutions, in cooperation with the Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is uniquely positioned to provide high quality training and user documentation to meet ASPO’s missions and goals related to the use of Tactical Handheld Digital Devices (THDD).  We boast the ability to provide the best training and user documentation related to THDD use. We utilize extensive corporate experience, infrastructure and mature processes providing instruction and manuals for other complex products and missions. The STAN team will provide training and documentation that meets ASPO’s growing needs and challenges.

Together, with SNC, STAN Solutions has conducted over 15,000 hours of THDD training for actual operations in the Continental United States (CONUS), Iraq and Afghanistan.

    * 6,000 student hours of Classroom Training conducting for 146 operators and maintainers
    * 9,000 student hours of Hands-On Training conducted for 146 operators and maintainers

In addition, our Team has provided nearly 300 pages of THDD training material for actual operations in CONUS, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Operator and Maintainer Training

THDD training is a complex activity requiring extensive experience with evolving technology, doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures. In addition, experienced training development, execution and support must be fortified with necessary leadership, resources and facilities to scale to large deployments and sustain quality. Training conducted without these capabilities puts operator and maintainer performance at risk. Backed with extensive experience and, corporate infrastructure, STAN Solutions has the unique ability to manage, support and customize THDD training for critical customer missions.

Together, with SNC, STAN Solutions has already conducted thousands of hours of Hands-On User and Maintainer training in the CONUS and OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States).

Our training incorporates a hands-on, train-the-trainer format that includes refinements and enhancements gained from relevant field experience. We have worked closely with customers to evolve and define operational doctrines and applications for THDD systems. We have a first-hand, real world understanding of actual THDD use that will help us provide trainees practical knowledge for efficient and effective THDD configuration and operation.

We have trained personnel and deployed THDD systems in a variety of operations and platforms. They have participated in surveillance, extraction, patrol, search and rescue, attack and medical emergency training and operations. In addition, our Team members have operational training experience on a wide variety of platforms (such as fixed and rotary wing aircraft, HMMWV, Stryker as well as dismount and Tactical Operations Center environments). This broad-based background uniquely qualifies STAN Solutions as the most versatile and experienced provider of THDD training.
